North

Nestled in the historic Russian Hill district, Sushi Groove offers an intimate and sophisticated dining experience at a reasonable price. With a menu that focuses on fresh fish and a variety of domestic and Japanese sake, this surprisingly chic restaurant fulfills the needs of the health conscious and fun seeking individual. Sushigroove's innovative approach to the artistry of Japanese cuisine in conjunction with new California cuisine well suits the San Francisco palate. This unique blend is further expressed by the sunset ambiance and amber lit dining room. While patrons dine to the sounds of acid jazz and drum 'n bass music, glances of the cable cars can be a perfect reminder of the fact that they are dining in one of the most picturesque cities in the world.

South

From the outside, Sushi Groove South seems to blend into the nondescript, industrial landscape of San Francisco’s definitively hip South Of Market, or SOMA, district. Once you pass through the big iron door you’ll find a cozy and original dining space that combines minimalist modern décor with soft, warm lighting, and masterful touches of comfortable fabrics. The sushi counter is a sweeping semicircle, and the main dining area features lush, velvet-covered banquettes and chairs. Sushi Groove South is a young, hip cousin of the original Sushi Groove up on Russian Hill, so it’s possible to see that the two locations belong in the same family—but they do have their distinct personalities. The bartenders and waitstaff are appropriately familiar, friendly, and extremely helpful. In the evening, the restaurant has a DJ who always seems to know just what soundscape is needed to set the right mood.
